The management of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company PLC (IBEDC) has assured residents of Ota and Mowe in Ogun State, whose the last Sunday rainstorm affected their power supply, that it’s working round the clock to ensure that power is restored as soon as possible.

The company, in a public notice, made available to Vanguard in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, noted that its technical team is actively working on-site to repair and replace the damaged infrastructure.

The public notice titled, “Power Outage in Ota and Mowe Communities”, reads; “due to broken poles occasioned by the heavy downpour at Ota and Mowe on the 21st of April, 2024, customers in the following communities: Olokuta, Hanushi, Bamtish Camp Lufiwape, Eltees Farm, August Engineering, Spark Cear Soap Ayetoro, Amazing Grace oil, Christopher University, Royal Garden Estate, Pentagon Estate and environs are experiencing power outages”.

It would be recalled that rainstorm on Sunday destroyed electricity poles, vehicles and houses in Ota and Mowe areas of Ogun State, which has plunged about 40 communities into darkness.

“Our technical team is actively working on-site to repair and replace the damaged infrastructure”.

“We are committed to restoring power in phases as swiftly and safely as possible”.

IBEDC disclosed that electricity has been restored in the following Band feeders; Qualitec 33 kV Feeder,
Tower Alloy 33kV Feeder, Mowe 33kV feeder and Mowe Industrial 33KV feeder, and promised to restore electricity within the next 24 hours to Estate/Odigbo 33kV feeder, A-Rasheed 33kV feeder and
Aarti-Steel 33kV feeder.

It advised residents and the general public to avoid contact with broken poles, sagging wires, and any other compromised electrical infrastructure.

“Do not attempt to move, repair or touch any electrical equipment. It is crucial to maintain a safe distance of approximately 100 meters to prevent accidents.

“Treat all wires and electrical installations as live and potentially dangerous unless they have been confirmed safe by a qualified professional.
“For ongoing updates and further instructions, please stay tuned to local news channels or weather updates from authorities.
“Report any incidents or emergencies to the Ogun Regional Safety Supervisor on 09052576473”.
“We apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time.
